Construction, construction, construction!

This past month has been nonstop with an almost walking 11 month old, overseeing all the orders at the current bakery and all the construction at the new bakery.  Not to mention, someone has a first birthday in just ONE week, so I have to plan that and we are in major crunch time to have the new bakery ready for his party.  I can't really complain though, as I did do this to myself, but I think two bakeries and a baby might have been a bit much to try to do all in one year!  

However, I am so proud of what I have and don't think I would trade it for any other way.  I am super thankful for everything Prescott and I have built, created and solely nurtured on our own and couldn't feel more fulfilled.  Thankfully I have the most supportive husband in the World, a handful of great friends close by and an amazing team at the bakery, I couldn't do all of this without them.  Next year I am slowing things down though and hopefully taking a vacation!!!

Lawson at 11 Months!

All this bakery construction has finally tired Lawson out (yeah right, in my dreams).  Well at least he sleeps in the car on the way to and from the bakery!  One thing is for sure though, it has definitely tired mommy and daddy out.  

But in all honesty, Lawson has done really great with all the things going on with BOTH bakeries.  He likes meeting the other babies that come in for consultations with their mommies and likes getting the attention from their mommies even more, haha, already into the older ladies.  Lawson pretty much has all the girls at the bakery tied around his buttercreamed little fingers, lucky guy.

He also enjoys walking around the new space with daddy.  It makes him feel very important.

His new favorite things to do are cruse around the furniture at high speeds and one handed at times  (which makes mommy very nervous), not fall asleep until midnight on occasion, so that he can stay up and play with daddy longer, and make huge messes every time he eats, so that mommy can constantly sweep the floor at least 3 times a day without it ever looking like she swept the floor once by the time daddy gets home.

Although I have to say this part of the crawling stage is definitely easier than the beginning part because now he can balance himself a little better and we have also baby proofed more, so that we don't have to constantly worry or be following behind his every move.  In fact, we broke down and turned our once trendy loft into a legit baby playroom that is surrounded with pillows so that we can just let him go to town and enjoy a little time to relax do laundry, return bakery emails and plan somebody's first birthday!

It is truly hard to believe that in less than a month our little guy is going to be ONE.  I want to invite everyone and their mother, I'm so excited about it.  I mean this is a huge ordeal, people.  We made it through a whole year of parenthood and have a real live baby to prove it.  We did it, woohoo for us!  I feel like this is just such an accomplishment, even if he did fall down the stairs, off the bed, into walls and onto floors, he made it through and we made it through and I'm praying it only gets easier from here, right?

We can always hope.  Either way, I love you Lawson and I love you Prescott.  You boys are my World and I wouldn't know what to do without you two.  And with that, I shall go to sleep and hope again that my son sleeps for at least the next 10 more minutes, so that I can just feel the space in my bed without anybody else in it for a second!

How to make a baby hand/foot print Ornament!

With everything going on with building the new bakery and having a full blown crawler to watch after, Prescott and I decided no gifts for each other this year.  But I couldn't resist doing a little something for him from Lawson and this was the perfect idea!

They turned out so cute.  It was super easy to do, not a messy project and best of all CHEAP.  These hand/foot print ornaments will last a lifetime and can be made with items you already have sitting in your cupboard.

Here is the recipe below as well as some photos from Lawson's first Christmas in Colorado, yes another successful plane trip for this little traveler to visit more family :)

1/2 c. salt
1/2 c. flour
1/4 c. water

Knead until dough forms.  Roll out and place on parchment paper.  Imprint hand or foot. Use toothpick to carefully dot carve the year and then use a straw to poke hole through for hanging on the tree.  Bake at 200 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours until hard.

Lawson's first Thanksgiving at 10 months

Lawson had a lot of firsts in November!  His first plane flight, first Thanksgiving and first snow.  It was a total whirlwind, he made the rounds from one grandma to the next, but he truly loved every minute of it.  We have come to the realization that our little guy is an explorer and loves to travel as much as his mommy and daddy :)  

Lawson also had his first experience with doggies and has been obsessed with them ever since.  Every time he sees a dog now, he gets so excited and starts squealing, it is adorable.  His favorite things on this trip were walking around the edges of his playpen, riding in the car, playing with the dogs and sitting in his highchair.  

He did awesome on the plane flight and learned a ton from traveling, seriously when he got home he was a totally different baby.  So much smarter.  He literally started crawling the night we got home and has been on the go ever since.  

Christmas photos to come soon.  I am a little behind, life has been beyond busy for Prescott and I with Lawson, his job, the bakery and the holidays!

Lawson at 9 Months!

Here are the photos from Lawson's 9 month photoshoot!  We took them in our hometown this time by one of the nearby lakes and it was a perfect backdrop.

He is crawling now, pulling himself up on things and standing with help.  It is a whole nother ballgame.  We are working on baby proofing the house this weekend!  I have also finally moved Lawson to his crib and he has slept through the night twice. He sleeps a lot better now, much more sound.  His favorite things to do are ride in the car, go on a stroll, eat pieces of real food (like pizza and cupcakes!), travel, play with his toys and drink juice out of his sippy cup.  Still nursing, but a lot less than before.

Lawson still comes to the bakery with me about twice a week and loves to watch the construction going on next door for the new bakery.  I don't know how Prescott and I are doing and juggling all the different things that we are, but we are doing it.  I am promising to slow down after the bakery is done, no more babies, bakeries or projects for a while!
